Description –
Meet Alfie — a loving, well-trained 5-year-old German Shepherd mix searching for his forever home.
Alfie recently lost his person when his owner passed away this summer. Through no fault of his own, he was left without a home and was at risk of euthanasia before landing in a temporary foster. He’s safe now—but urgently needs a permanent family where he can finally settle in and belong. Alfie is a true gentle giant. He’s incredibly affectionate and people-oriented. He will often place his head in your lap or curl up near your feet when you’re at home together. He’s friendly, calm, and sweet with all people, with many aweing at his wonderfully “chill” temperament. He’s also always excited about walks, hikes, runs, and playtime.
He is highly trained and eager to please. Alfie knows sit, down, stay, heel, come, go to bed, and focus, and picks up new skills quickly. He thrives with structure and responds super well to clear guidance. Alfie is currently learning to co-exist around other dogs and cats and continues to make progress, recently able to stay laying down while cats and dogs run around him. He would do best in a home that can provide thoughtful introductions, consistency, and continued training support. He may be happiest as an only pet or with a calm companion, depending on the situation.
Alfie is the kind of dog who bonds deeply and loves fully. He’s loyal, gentle, and ready to give his whole heart to the right family. Ideal owners would be able to give him plenty of love and activity.
Size – Large (approx. 60-65 lbs)
With other dogs – Good. Needs reinforcement
With kids – Best suited for a home with older children.
With cats – Not great but learning to control.
Other notes – Alfie had a neurological issue which has left one of his eyes slightly deformed.
